The Space Centre's tower stands at 42 metres, and is semi-transparent, clad with pillows of a specially manufactured plastic film. The pillows are dotted with thousands of tiny metallic spots designed to prevent the tower from getting too hot when the sun shines.

The complex puzzle of how to get rockets in and out was overcome by building in a section at the side of the tower that can be opened, allowing easy access to refresh the exhibits when necessary.
