Pooh Bridge Pooh Bridge, an old wooden bridge in Ashdown Forest near Hartfield was immortalised by author A.A. Milne as the venue for the game Poohsticks in his stories about the honey-loving bear. The original bridge, which dates back to 1907, was partly rebuilt in 1979 and is just off the Downs and Weald cycle route. Some cyclists might want to make the detour and find Poohsticks Bridge in Ashdown Forest. A.A. Milne wrote the Winnie-the-Pooh stories back in the 1920's and the game 'Poohsticks' was invented by the Bear of Very Little Brain himself, Winnie, right here at Pooh Bridge as he talked to Christopher Robin. And A.A. Milne once said, "Only children can know true happiness". And, of course, he was right. |
