Aberdulais Falls The story of Aberdulais Falls spans over 400 years - starting with the first manufacture of copper in 1584, later followed by iron smelting and corn milling. A tin-plate works was built around 1830 and the remains of this industrial period can still be seen today. Many artists were inspired to paint here, one of the most famous being JMW Turner who painted The Mill at Aberdulais in 1795. In 1991, the National Trust built a hydro-electric scheme and a waterwheel, the biggest in Europe that actually generates electricity. The Falls include:
