The Camel Trail is one of the most successful recreational trails in the UK, providing access to the Cornish countryside along a disused railway line between Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow. When trains used the line it was the final leg of the Atlantic Coast Express journey from Waterloo, winding alongside the spectacular Camel Estuary, and the line was immortalised in John Betjeman's Cornwall' as "the most beautiful train journey I know".

Traffic-free, smooth surfaced and virtually level, the trail is safe and easy to use for families and the mobility impaired. With free access to the secluded woodlands of the river valley and great views across the Camel Estuary Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it merits a visit of its own if you're not able to do the full West Country Way cycle route.
