National Cycle Network mile marker in the centre of Hull.
"During the 700 years of its existence, the town and city of Hull has served as a market town, a military supply port and a staging point for the trading of fish and whales. An industrial giant, it was also an early theatre for the battles of the English Civil Wars, the backdrop to events leading to the abolition of the slave trade in Britain and after suffering heavy damage during the Second World War it weathered a period of post-industrial decline before the city embarked on a programme of regeneration and renewal you can see now in the 21st century."
