As ideal as old railway trackbed is for cycling, you can sometimes be confined between embankments and cuttings. The Tissington Trail, however, is a combination of wooded areas, cuttings and high embankment, and later sections of the Trail afford views across the open countryside as the route finds its way into the Peak District National Park.
