Snow poles can cause concern to cyclists because they signify height. And they do. But these snow poles are reached without too much effort since leaving Orton and its a very gradual ascent of some four miles distance. And it's here that you may see the semi-wild fell ponies across the open moors feeding and enjoying some freedom in the Pennines.
