Slipping out of Glasgow, it's easy twisting paths and railway tracks, including an enjoyable cycle through part of Pollok Park as the route skirts Paisley and Johnstone, only occasionally finding its way to the edges of the towns. From Johnstone the railway paths head through lochside country, touching the waters of lochs Castle Semple, Barr and Kilbirnie, all the way to Kilbirnie itself where the route finds country lanes and closes in on the sea.
