Leith.
The Water of Leith river is encountered here for the first time but accompanies the journey on its early stages but meets up again later on the cycle route. Shortly after this point an old railway track - clearly well used judging by the volume of traffic by local people - takes you the few miles to the centre of Edinburgh and the quick pull up to the City's Prince's Street (the focal point of Edinburgh and its dominating castle). The cycle route crosses the busy thoroughfare on Prince's Street, heads up to the Mound, around pedestrianised parks and along to the Union Canal, hidden from view by the city's maze of streets and buildings.
