Missing out the busy A1 road into Berwick the route uses a safe road above the cliff-tops near Spittal Tongues before a quick decent and soon after into Berwick. It's quite isolated here, a little rough in parts, but with views across the North Sea and fragile looking homes on the cliff-tops.
