'Callendar
Wood has formed a dramatic backdrop to the town of Falkirk for over 500
years. The wood was part of the Livingston family's Callendar Estate
bought by William Forbes in 1783 and at
this time the wood was largely oak coppice woodland with extensive mine
workings. This landscape was transformed into a more ornamental woodland
as the 19th century progressed with the addition of kennels, mausoleum,
lodge houses, avenues and carriageways.'

- Barrel Well dates back to 1791 when the Well supplied water to the town of Falkirk
- Kennels (example of an early mid Victorian dog kennels with
its own central heating system for the hounds) ...
