Cycling
in Derwentside Foldout
leaflet with information on cycling in Derwentside Extract:
'Whether
you are a serious cyclist or a family group, one of the best ways to
discover Derwentside is by bicycle. At present there are seven dedicated
cycle paths within the district, passing through both urban and and
rural areas. These routes largely follow former railway lines which have
been reclaimed to provide an excellent network of accessible and
traffic-free routes for cyclists, walkers and horseriders.
'Four of
these routes form part of the National Cycle Network and the routes
intersect at Lydgetts Junction west of Consett, which is an excellent
access point, with a free car park and picnic area. Other car parks and
picnic areas are shown on the map.'
