Cycling in West Dorset

Foldout map with 4 routes, points of interest and suggested detours. The map has been split into four sections, colour coded, and described in detail.

'Welcome to West Dorset, almost entirely designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with a spectacular coastline which has been awarded World Heritage Site status. Perfect for exploring on two wheels, you'll find sleepy villages, bustling market towns, river valleys and gentle chalk downlands behind the famous Chesil Beach, which stretches for miles.

'This leaflet is based on the National Cycle Network (NCN), but whether you're a keen cyclist or just looking to have some fun, you'll find something here to help you make the most of cycling in West Dorset, the heart of Thomas Hardy's Wessex.

'NCN Route 2 in West Dorest is between Dorchester and the Devon border near Lyme Regis, approximately 30 miles. The entire route is manageable in one day, but it has been designed to take in a number of West Dorset's historic towns and picturesque villages. We recommend that you divide the route up and take the detours as shown on the map or, why not plan your own trips off the main route and discover the real West Dorset yourself.'

Marshwood Vale - (13 miles)
