Cycling in Mid-Devon

Foldout leaflet with maps and detailed directions of two cycle routes starting and ending in Tiverton which is also on the West Country Way Cycle Route.

Extract:
'T
he two cycle routes in the leaflet explore the river valleys of the Exe and Lowman and their surrounding countryside and  villages. As with all river valleys, there are steep climbs - particularly on the Exe Valley route - as well as more gentle stretches. It is probably worth taking time to explore Tiverton itself, with its museum, castle and Grand Western Canal on the edge of the town.

The Exe Valley Cycle Route
16 miles
'This circular route explores the beautiful valleys of the River Exe. The first half of the route follow the Exe Valley Way, a long distance route for walkers and is waymarked. It is a route of contrasts, some reasonably gentle stretches but also some steep climbs, especially around Holmingham Quarry. The climbs are rewarded by some spectacular views of the the valley. The halfway point of the route is Bampton, a small attractive country town on the edge of Exmoor.

The Lowman Valley Cycle Route
23 miles
'This circular route explores the gentle valley or the River Lowman, and some of the many picturesque villages in and around it. There are many opportunities to vary the route by making use of the network of lanes which criss-cross the countryside.'
