Cycling
in Mid-Devon
Foldout
leaflet with maps and detailed directions of two cycle routes starting and
ending in Crediton which is 10 miles south of the West Country Way Cycle
Route
Extract:
'Mid-Devon,
located at the heart of the West Country Way, has some of the loveliest
and least known countryside in the region. Although the area has
excellent main roads, the real pleasure of discovering Mid-Devonshire's
countryside, villages and hamlets, comes when you take
to the road on a bicycle and explore the countryside at a
leisurely pace.
'The two cycle routes in this leaflet
(Crediton - Bow and
Crediton - Woolfardisworthy) explore the
attractive villages perched on hilltops or tucked away in valleys in the
rolling countryside which surrounds Crediton. Both routes start from
Crediton and it's worth taking time to explore the town and its history with its links to St Boniface (born there 680 AD)
and the magnificent Parish Church of the Holy Cross.
Crediton - Bow
Cycle Route
25 miles
'This circular route explores the beautiful countryside and villages
right at the heart of Devon. It is a route of contrasts as it follows
the rolling hill countryside, so typical of the area. There are some
steep climbs but they are rewarded by wonderful views across the
countryside and over to the hills of Dartmoor.
Crediton
Woolfardisworthy Cycle Route
18 miles
'This route explores the rolling country north of Crediton. It takes in
some extremely attractive scenery and spectacular views, although there
are some steep climbs! There are also some interesting churches along
the route.'
