The Coast-to-Coast Trail
11 miles

Foldout leaflet with map and information on the history along the Trail.

Extract:
'The Coast-to-Coast Trail passes through an extraordinary variety of countryside, from mining landscapes to ancient woodland. Interpretation boards along the route features the area's mining heyday in the 19th century.

'Full of contrast, the Trail links the mining harbours of Portreath, on the exposed Atlantic coast, and Devoran beside the the sheltered waters of Restronguet Creek. As well as beautiful countryside, the Trail passes many historic mine sites now transformed by nature.

'This is one of the Mineral Tramway trails which explore Cornwall's mining heartland. It also closely follows the line of two early horse-drawn tramroads, the Portreath Tramroad and the Redruth & Chasewater Railway. These were built to take copper ore from the richest known mineralised area in the world - Gwennap, 'the Copper Kingdom.'
