Tegg's Nose Country Park

Foldout leaflet with map, information and  history of the Country Park.

Extract:
'As you stand in the car park you are on top of of what was once a deep quarry hole. The quarry here at Windyway produced a blue stone, while the main one on Tegg's itself produced Tegg's Nose Pink. The path to the country park follows an old cart track which was used to take the stone down to Macclesfield.

The Trail winds between Tegg's Nose and Bottoms Reservoirs. These were built in the late 1800's to regulate the flow of the River Bollin and to ensure that the mills in Langley received a steady power supply all year.

'Many of the dry stone walss that add so much to the character of the landscape are over 150 years old. Recently over 500m of wall have been rebuilt in the Country park. And as you climb Saddlers Way, spare a thought for the pack horses that once used this route, laden with salt and other goods bound for the Pennines.'
